Three to Four Weeks Before:

* In a small notebook, begin writing down everything you think you will need.

* Draw up your guest list and check to be sure you have the correct address and telephone number for each.  Use Yahoo people search to help.

* If your party is to be informal and you are inviting by phone, call now.

* If you are sending written or printed invitations, buy them now.

* Plan your menu.

* Make a shopping list of everything you think you will need, including toothpicks, furniture polish, napkins, balloons and party favors.

One Week Before:

* Do the shopping for the cake.

* Check your guest list and phone any guests who have not responded to be sure whether or not they are coming.

* Organize the ice.  Bath tubs are great for ice as well as a good place to chill beer, wine and soft drinks.  Trash pails with heavy duty plastic liners also make excellent ice "buckets".

* Decide what you are going to wear and check to see if it needs to be cleaned or pressed.

* Make hair and manicure appointments.

Two or Three Days Before:

* Rearrange furniture so as to best accommodate your guests.

* Clean the house now, so that you are worry-free the day of your party.

* Set up extra tables for the bar and buffet.   Arranging them at opposite ends of the room is recommended to help avoid traffic jams and to keep guests circulating.

* Cook as much of the food as possible so that you need only heat it the night of your party.

* Check to be sure you have enough waste baskets and ash trays around.

* Apologize in advance to your nearest neighbors or invite them to join the party.  They won't object to the noise if they are part of the fun.

* If you live in an apartment, notify your doorman or superintendent about the expected number of guests.

The Night Before:

* Set your tables, checking to be sure you have enough plates, silverware, glasses, cups and saucers.

* Be sure guest towels and soap are in the bathroom.

* If your party is in winter, be sure you have enough room for coats, boots, umbrellas, etc..

* If you need more supplies, party supply services will rent you a coat rack, glasses, tables, chairs, tents and even outdoor heaters if you need them.

The Day Of The Party:

* Make up a schedule and tape it to your refrigerator, i.e., what time to put out the ice, heat food, etc..

* Set up the bar

* Arrange fresh flowers, etc.

* Adjust lighting and music so the atmosphere is ready for your guests.

* Leave plenty of time to leisurely shower and dress.

* Smile and enjoy the music provided by DJ Terry Snyder and have a great time.
